Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá trpným rodem v anglickém a českém jazyce a jeho analýzou v překladech vybraných autorů. V teoretické části rozebírá rod jako gramatickou kategorii, následuje popis trpného rodu v anglickém jazyce, tvorba a jednotlivé typy trpného rodu, např. be-passives, bare passives, atd. Popsány jsou také důvody pro využití trpného rodu. Poté je zmíněn trpný rod v jazyce českém, jeho funkce, tvorba a jeho dva typy. Na závěr teoretické části je naznačen překlad mezi těmito dvěma jazyky. Vše je provedeno na základě gramatických publikací jak anglického jazyka, tak jazyka českého.Praktická část obsahuje příklady trpného rodu získané ze tří světových děl v anglickém jazyce a jejich překladů do českého jazyka. Jedná se o tato díla: Lolita (autor Vladimir Nabokov, překlad Pavel Dominik), Dubliners (autor James Joyce, dva různé překlady: Aloys Skoumal a Zdeněk Urbánek) a Midnight’s Children (autor Salman Rushdie, překlad Pavel Dominik). Jednotlivé pasáže obsahující trpný rod jsou roztřízeny do kategorií dle teoretické části a následně analyzovány na základě toho, jakým způsobem jsou přeloženy do jazyka českého. Dále jsou popsány tendence jednotlivých překladatelů, tedy jak tendence vycházející ze dvou překladů provedených stejným překladatelem (Pavel Dominik), tak mezi překladem jedné knihy od dvou různých překladatelů (Skoumal, Urbánek). Nakonec je výsledek analýzy uspořádán do tabulek a na základě toho je vyvozen závěr.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the passive voice in the English and the Czech language. The theoretical part examines the voice as a grammatical category, the description of passive voice in English, its formation and different types of passive voice (e.g. be-passives, bare-passives, etc.) follows. Reasons to use passive voice are also listed in this study. Then, the passive voice in Czech is mentioned, its function, the way it is formed and its two types, periphrastic passive and reflexive passive. The ending of the theoretical part occupies the translation between these two languages. All is carried out on the basis of grammatical publication of both the English language and the Czech language. The practical part contains examples of passive voice obtained from three world English novels and their translation into the Czech language. The novels include: Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov (translated by Pavel Dominik), Dubliners by James Joyce (two translations, one by Aloys Skoumal, the other one by Zdeněk Urbánek) and Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie (translated by Pavel Dominik). Each passage containing passive voice forms are sorted into categories according to the theoretical part and afterwards they are analyses on the basis of the way they were translated into Czech. Next, the tendencies of each translators are described: both tendencies resulting from the analysis of two translations by the same translator (Pavel Dominik) and tendencies resulting from the two translation of the same book (Skoumal, Urbánek). Finally, the outcome of analysis is organized into tables and based on them, the conclusion is executed.
