Consequences of Accession to the EU on the Czech Insurance Market

Abstract:

Diplomová práce na téma „Důsledky vstupu ČR do EU pro český pojistný trh“ klade před sebou za cíl ukázat, jak vstup České republiky do EU ovlivnil český pojistný trh. První kapitola pojednává o stavu a vývoji českého pojišťovnictví před vstupem do EU. Následující kapitola vymezuje podstatu komunitárního práva upravujícího oblast pojišťovnictví se všemi právy a povinnostmi vyplývajícími pro členské státy. Kapitola třetí je rozdělena do dvou podkapitol, první - osvětluje dopady na vnitrostátní legislativu ČR, ukazuje na hlavní rozdíly, druhá část je zaměřena na vysvětlení aktuální problematiky související se se zavedením Solvency II. Čtvrtá kapitola obnáší hlavní přínos práce spočívající v komparaci dvou produktů investičního životního pojištění před a po uplatnění evropské směrnice o nediskriminaci mužů a žen ve vztahu k pojišťovnictví. Je provedena analýza dopadů zákazu diskriminace. V poslední kapitole jsou analyzovány trendy pojišťovnictví a nastíněn možný budoucí vývoj.

Abstract:

This master`s thesis titled „Consequences of Accession to the EU on the Czech Insurance Market“ is aimed to show, how did the accession of the Czech Republic to the EU influenced the Czech insurance market. First chapter of this work explains state and development of Czech insurance market before the accession. The next chapter explains the issues of acquis communitaire regulating all rights and duties of the member states. The third chapter is divided into two parts, first provides the consequences on the Czech legal system, shows main differences and changes; second part is focused on explaining actual issues of implementing the Solvency II regulation. The fourth chapter contains the main contribution of this work, which rests on comparison of two products of unit linked insurance before and after the implementation of European regulation implementing the principle of equal treatment between men and women in relation to the insurance market. The impact of the harmonization of this regulation to the Czech insurance market is analyzed. The last chapter provides the analysis of actual insurance trends and possible development in the future.
