The Analysis and Comparison of the Czech Translations of the Eichendorff's Novel "Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts"

Abstract:

Several translations of one and the same original text offer the opportunity for comparison. This diploma thesis deals with the detailed comparison of the three translations of the novel "Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts", which was written by the German romantic author Joseph von Eichendorff, into Czech. The first part offers the introduction of the analysed literary work, of the author of this work, and of the period in which the work was written. In the second part, we can find the basic information about its Czech translations and the biography of each of the translators. The actual comparative analysis can be found in the third part, in which the most significant differences between the translations of the most famous novel of Eichendorff are demonstrated, explained, and evaluated.

Abstract:

Vícero překladů jednoho a téhož původního textu nabízí možnost srovnání. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá podrobným srovnáním tří překladů novely "Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts" německého romantika Josepha von Eichendorffa do češtiny. První část nabízí seznámení s analyzovaným literárním dílem, autorem a dobou, ve kterém dílo vzniklo. Ve druhé části nalezneme základní údaje o jeho českých překladech a biografie jednotlivých překladatelů. Vlastní srovnávací analýzu tvoří část třetí, v níž jsou demonstrovány, vysvětleny a ohodnoceny největší rozdíly jednotlivých překladů této nejznámější Eichendorffovy novely.
