Political attitudes of Czech billionaires

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje politickým postojům nejbohatších Čechů. Ti se v poslední dekádě stále více zapojují do tuzemské politiky, čímž získávají nebývalý vliv na vnitřní i vnější směřování země. O jejich individuálních názorech na politiku toho ale současně mnoho nevíme. Na základě teorie kradmé politiky a teorie politických postojů nejbohatších Čechů je v práci zkoumáno, zda jsou tito lidé ochotní o svém pohledu na politiku veřejně mluvit. Sekundárně je zkoumána podoba jejich postojů. Z výzkumu mediálních textů z let 2006 a 2016 vyplývá, že své politické postoje jsou ochotní zveřejňovat spíše méně majetní z nejbohatších Čechů. Většina tuzemských miliardářů je ve shodě s politickou pravicí a zastává proevropské postoje.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with political attitudes of the richest Czechs. They have been increasingly involved in domestic politics in the last decade, gaining unprecedented influence upon the country's political development. Yet, their individual political attitudes remain uncovered. Based on the theory of stealth politics and the concept of the richest Czechs' political attitudes the thesis explores whether the Czech billionaires share their attitudes and preferences with the public. Secondary, the thesis explores form of their attitudes. The analysis of media texts published between 2006 and 2016 shows that rather less wealthy of the richest Czechs are willing to publish their attitudes. Moreover, most of the billionaires hold right-wing and pro-European attitudes.
