The main question of this thesis is how theories of punishment can respond to the use of genetic predisposition arguments in court cases. The author looks in detail at various punishment theories, particularly retributivism and consequentialism, assessing how they could poten-tially account for a defendant's genetic predisposition in determining sentences.
