The Importance of Large Congresses

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje velkým kongresům a jejich významu a to z hlediska kongresových hotelů. Teoreticko-metodologická část práce obsahuje trendy v kongresovém cestovním ruchu. Dále formy, druhy a pojmy z oblasti mezinárodního cestovního ruchu a politiky turismu. Ovšem hlavním cílem je přiblížit problematiku získávání velkých kongresů pro hotely, a jejich význam. V této práci se jedná o vybraný kongresový hotel v Praze. Jsou zde také vyzdviženy body, na které je důležité se zaměřit při získávání kongresů. Tato práce má shrnout teoretické poznatky, které jsou uvedeny v první části práce. Dále porovnat získané informace s nynější situací v kongresovém cestovním ruchu, a to shrnout v analýze SWOT. Marketingová analýza vybraného hotelu vznikala na základě řízených rozhovorů se zaměstnanci daného hotelu (který si ovšem nepřeje být jmenován) a konzultacemi s vedoucím práce. Při těchto rozhovorech několikrát zazněly zajímavé informace, jako například, že hotel musí mít perfektně zpracovanou analýzu konkurence, která slouží k porovnávání služeb a vybavenosti hotelu s konkurencí. Dále je nutné se zaměřit na cílovou skupinu zákazníků. K tomu slouží segmentace trhu, při níž management zjistí, jaké skupiny klientů nejvíce navštěvují vybraný hotel a podle toho se tvoří marketingové strategie apod. Veškeré získané poznatky se promítly v analýze SWOT, které jsem věnovala mimořádnou pozornost. Z této práce je zřejmé, že vybraný hotel se musí zaměřit na péči o zákazníka, poskytování nadstandartních služeb klientům dále se musí snažit promítnout do nabídky zejména pozitivní aspekty a organizátorovi kongresu maximálně vyhovět v jeho požadavcích.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis explores the importance of great congresses and focuses on congress hotels. The theoretic-methodology part covers the topic of current trends in congress tourism, as well as the forms, types and terms concerning the area of international tourism and tourism policy. The main focus of this thesis is to outline the process hotels have to undergo when holding a congress and the significance of such congresses for them. A particular congress hotel in Prague was chosen for the purposes of this thesis. The topics worth concentrating on when trying to win commission to hold a congress were also emphasised. The aim of this thesis is to sum up theoretical knowledge covered in the first part of this thesis and compare it with the current situation in congress tourism. The outcomes were put together in SWOT analysis. The marketing analysis is based on questioning upon the employees of the chosen hotel (which does not wish to be named) and upon consultation with the thesis supervisor. The interviews brought up some interesting facts, e. g. that the hotel has to have a perfect competition analysis that compares the services and facilities of the hotel with other ones. It is essential to focus on the target customer group. To achieve this the hotel management uses the market segmentation strategy to find out which customer groups visit the particular hotel most often and the managers than base their marketing strategies on these facts. All the pieces of information gained are shown in the SWOT analysis which was put together with special care. This thesis showed that the chosen hotel has to concentrate on customer care, offering extra services, on projecting positive aspects in their offers and to meet the requirements of congress organisers
