Prevention of men´s metabolic syndrome

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na téma prevence metabolického syndrom u mužů. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, a to na část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část se zabývá objasněním pojmu metabolický syndrom, jaké jsou rizikové faktory jeho vzniku, možnosti léčby a prevence. V praktické části je pomocí průzkumu zjišťována informovanost o metabolickém syndromu, jaký životní styl mají muži od 30 let, výskyt nadváhy jako rizikového faktoru, zjišťuje rodinou a osobní anamnézu zaměřenou na rizikové faktory vzniku metabolického syndromu. Metodika: Metodou sběru dat bylo dotazníkové šetření pomocí nestandardizovaného dotazníku, vytvořeného pro tyto účely, které probíhalo v ordinaci praktického lékaře v období od června do listopadu 2009. Zpracovány byly údaje sta respondentů. Dotazováni byli muži ve věku od 30 let. Výsledky: Z průzkumu vyplynulo, že mezi dotazovanými je vysoký výskyt nadváhy. Respondenti nemají vážnější nedostatky v oblasti stravování. V oblasti pravidelných fyzických aktivit mají respondenti rezervy. Nekuřáci výrazně převyšují nad kuřáky. Poměrně velké množství respondentů je ohroženo metabolickým syndromem vzhledem k rodinné a osobní anamnéze. Informováno o metabolickém syndromu je více než tři čtvrtiny respondentů. Závěr: Průzkum ukázal především, že tři čtvrtiny respondentů má BMI nad 25, což představuje významné riziko pro vnik metabolického syndromu. Zlepšením v oblasti výživy a zařazením pravidelného tělesného pohybu do života, lze významně ovlivnit budoucí zdravotní stav, dlouhodobá edukace klientů ze strany zdravotníků je nezbytná. Zlepšením informovanosti o metabolickém syndromu a jeho prevenci mohou klienti příznivě ovlivnit svůj zdravotní stav a jeho další vývoj.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the topic of prevention of men´s metabolic syndrome. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with an explanation of the term metabolic syndrome. What are the risks of its origin, possibilities of treatment and prevention. In the practical part I questioned the awareness about the metabolic syndrome by the survey. What is the life style of men over their 30´s, occurrence of the overweight as a risk factor, identification of family and personal anamnesis focused on the risk factors for the syndrome. Methodology: The data was collected by a survey in an unstandardized questionnaire made for this purpose. The survey took place in the surgery of a general practitioner during the period from June to November 2009. Data of one hundred respondents was processed. Men over 30´s were inquired. Results: The survey showed that there is a higher occurrence of overweight among queried. The respondents do not have any serious deficit in the area of nourishment. As for regular physical activities the respondents seem to have shortages. There are significantly more non-smokers than smokers in the research. Quite a lot of respondents are endangered by the metabolic syndrome due to their family and personal anamnesis. More than three quarters of respondents are informed about the metabolic syndrome. Conclusion: The survey revealed many respondents with BMI over 25 which put them into a significant risk for developing of the metabolic syndrome. Improvement of their eating habits and better management of regular physical activity can significantly affect their future health quality. Long-term education of patients by health workers is necessary. The awareness about metabolic syndrome is satisfying.
