Linguistic view of the world. Sudeten Germans in contemporary Czech fiction

Abstract:

Diplomová práce nese název Jazykový obraz sudetského Němce v současné české próze. V rámci teorií kognitivní lingvistiky se snažíme zobrazit sudetské Němce v době války nebo těsně po jejím skončení. Nejedná se nám o popis faktografických údajů, nýbrž o praktické využití jednoho ze základních kognitivních názorů, který prosazuje myšlenku, že jazyk je součástí poznávání a poznání a že se značnou měrou se podílí na tom, jak lidé světu rozumí. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí. V teoretické první části se věnujeme obecně pojmům jazyk a jazykový znak. Stručně se zmiňujeme o strukturalismu a následně se zabýváme kognitivní lingvistikou. V praktické části vycházíme z rozboru literárních děl, na jehož základě se snažíme vytvořit jazykový obraz sudetského Němce. V závěru práce shrnujeme nejdůležitější poznatky, ke kterým jsme v průběhu našeho bádání dospěli.

Abstract:

A title of this thesis is: Linguistic picture of the Sudeten German in contemporary Czech fiction. In terms of theory of cognitive linguistic, we try to see the Sudeten Germans in time of war or immediately after its ending. The main point of the thesis is practical using one of the fundamental cognitive ideas instead of factual statements. Cognitive linguistic promotes the idea that language is a component of knowledge and how people understand the world. This thesis is divided into two main parts. In the first theoretical part, we attend to general terms like language and language sing. We briefly mention structuralism and then we deal with cognitive linguistic. In the practical part, we try to create a linguistic view of Sudeten German on this basis of the analysis of literary works. In the end of this thesis, we summarize the most important information that we have received during our research.
