Boundaries in the relationship between helping workers and clients in social services for the elderly

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá budováním hranic ve vztahu mezi pomáhajícími pracovníky a klienty v sociálních službách pro seniory. Poznávacím cílem je otázka: „Co pomáhá a ztěžuje pomáhajícím pracovníkům v sociálních službách pro seniory budovat hranice ve vztahu s klienty?“ Z výsledků výzkumu vyplývá, že budování hranic ve vztahu je velmi individuální a každému pomáhá něco jiného a to samé platí pro komplikující faktory. Je tedy potřeba, aby konkrétní pracovníci hledali, co je pro ně vyhovující. Pracovníci, kteří se zúčastnili mého výzkumu, uváděli mezi podpůrnými zdroji například zkušenosti, sdílení s druhými nebo supervizi. Do zdrojů, které jim budování hranic komplikují, řadili například soucit, pociťovanou malou podporu od vedoucích pracovníků, nebo nevyhovující pravidla práce v organizaci. Zajímavé bylo i zjištění, že jsou zdroje, které někomu pomáhají v budování hranic a jinému ho komplikují.

Abstract:

This thesis is concerned with building the boundaries in the relationship between helping workers and clients in social services for elderly. The main research question is: „What helps and makes harder to helping workers in social services for the elderly to build boundaries in relationship with clients?“ The research results show that the building the boundaries in a relationship is very individual and everyone has something different which helps him, and the same goes for complicating factors. It is necessary that particular workers seek what is convenient to them. Workers who participated in my research, mentioned, for example, experience, sharing with others or supervision as a source of support. To the sources that complicate building the boundaries they included, for example, compassion, felt little support from leaders, or unsatisfactory work rules in an organization. What was interesting was the finding that there are resources which are helpful with building the boundaries for someone and complicating for someone else.
