Assessing the EU's education goals

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je zhodnocení plnění cílů Evropské unie v rámci strategie Evropa 2020 z pohledu vzdělanosti. Pro dosažení tohoto cíle jsou analyzovány časové řady ukazatelů týkajících se vzdělanosti a zaměstnanosti ve vybraných zemích Evropské unie. V práci jsou aplikovány metody shlukové analýzy a metody analýzy časových řad, to vše na data dostupná z veřejných databází Eurostatu. Na základě těchto analýz je zhodnocen vývoj ukazatelů v čase a následně jsou diskutovány rozdíly ve vývoji časových řad s důrazem na identifikaci příčin strukturálních zlomů ve sledovaných zemích. Pozornost je věnována především významným strukturálním změnám ve spojitosti s plněním cílů strategie Evropa 2020. Výsledné modely jsou srovnány s použitými zdroji

Abstract:

The main objective of the bachelor thesis is to evaluate the fulfilment of the European Union's goals within the Europe 2020 strategy from the perspective of education. In order to achieve this objective, time series of indicators related to education and employment in selected EU countries are analysed. Cluster analysis and time series analysis methods are applied to the data available from Eurostat public databases. On the basis of these analyses, the evolution of the indicators over time is evaluated and then the differences in the evolution of the time series are discussed with an emphasis on identifying the causes of structural breaks in the countries under study. In particular, attention is paid to significant structural changes in relation to the implementation of the Europe 2020 strategy. The resulting models are compared with the sources used.
