Value preferences of university students of humanities and technical fields in relation to well-being

Abstract:

Záměrem této práce bylo zkoumat rozdíly mezi hodnotami a subjektivní osobní pohodou u vysokoškolských studentů humanitních a technických oborů. Byly zmíněny teoretické pohledy na osobní pohodu, která je důležitým pojmem pozitivní psychologie. Vymezení hodnot vycházelo především ze Schwartzovy typologie deseti Základních hodnot a ve výzkumné části jsme použili Schwartzův dotazník PVQ ve zkrácené podobě. Jako další byl použit Bernský dotazník subjektivní pohody BSW-A. Poslední kapitola teoretické části se zabývá souvislostmi osobní pohody a hodnot. Celkem dotazníky vyplnilo 149 respondentů. Data byla zpracována pomocí programů SPSS a Microsoft Excel. U studentů humanitních oborů byly zjištěny signifikantně vyšší hodnoty benevolence než u studentů technických oborů. Rozdílnosti byly nalezeny i v dimenzích subjektivní pohody. Zjištěny byly souvislosti některých složek subjektivní pohody a hodnot.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis was to examine the differences between values and subjective well-being of university students of humanities and technical fields. There were mentioned theoretical views concerning personal well-being which is the important concept of positive psychology. The values were mainly determined according to Schwartz's typology of ten Basic Human Values, and we used Schwartz's Portrait Value Questionnaire in abbreviated form in the practical part. We also used the Bern questionnaire of subjective well-being BSW-A. The last chapter of theoretical part deals with relations between personal well-being and values. A total of 149 respondents completed the questionnaire. The data were processed via SPSS and Microsoft Excel. Students of humanities had significantly higher values of benevolence than students of technical fields. Differences were also found in the dimensions of subjective well-being. Correlations of some components of subjective well-being and values were proved.
