Information institutions of the VTEI system after 1989 - transformation or demise?

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá transformací informačních institucí bývalé soustavy VTEI po roce 1989. Po tomto roku soustava formálně zaniká a dochází k ukončení finanční podpory ze strany státu. Většina institucí je následně zapojena do privatizačního procesu, mnohé z nich ukončují svoji činnost nebo přechází do soukromého vlastnictví. Soustava VTEI v oborovém zařazení zaujímala významné místo, stála na počátku moderní informatizace společnosti České republiky. První část práce popisuje dobový kontext, historický vývoj soustavy a transformaci soustavy VTEI z dnešního pohledu. Druhá část práce je tvořena výzkumem jednotlivých informačních institucí a celkovým obrázkem transformace. Závěr obsahuje shrnutí celé problematiky a nastínění možného dalšího výzkumu.

Abstract:

This Diploma thesis is focused on the transformation of the Information institutions of the previous VTEI system (Scientific, Technical and Economic Information) after 1989. After this year the system was formally terminated and the financial support/donation from the state also ended. Most of the institutions consequently were a part of the privatization process, many of them were closed or their ownership has changed into a private one and continued in their activities/business. The VTEI system plays an important role in the field of its focus and stands at the beginning of the modern informatization of the society in the Czech Republic. The first part of this study describes the context of its operation period, the historical development of the VTEI system and its transformation from the current point of view. The second part of this thesis consists of research on the individual information institutions and the complex viewpoint/framework of the transformation. Finally, the conclusion incorporates the recapitulation of the whole issue and introduces an outline of further research.
