Abstract:

Vizuální podpora hraje významnou roli ve výuce cizího jazyka. I přesto se žádný z předchozích metodologických výzkumů nezabývá jednou z významných metod spadající do vizuálních prostředků, a to fotografií. Cílem této práce je zhodnotit fotografii jako jednu z metod při výuce anglického jazyka. Zabývá se zejména možnostmi, jak s fotografií v různých formách pracovat v hodinách. Práce je založena na aktivitách použitých v hodinách anglického jazyka s dospělými. Všechny aktivity jsou spojeny s použitím nebo produkcí fotografie, a učeny za účelem zjištění, jak efektivní tyto metody mohou být. Očekává se zaujetí pozornosti studentů stejně jako zvýšení jejich znalost anglického jazyka, s ohledem na konkrétní aktivity a jejich cíle. Výsledky práce mohou být využity učiteli anglického jazyka, kteří by rádi zapojili výše uvedené metody do jejich výuky.

Abstract:

A visual support plays a significant role in foreign language teaching. However, previous methodological research fails to take an account of one specific method falling within visual approaches, photography. The aim of this thesis is to consider photography as one of the methods in teaching English. It is particularly concerned with possible ways of using it in different forms in practical lessons. The paper is based on activities used in lessons of English language with young adults. All the activities are connected to the use or production of photographs, and taught with the purpose of establishing how effective this method can be. It is expected to engage students’ attention as well as increase their knowledge of English, considering the particular activities and their aims. The findings of the thesis can be utilised by English teachers who wish to implement the above mentioned methods in their teaching.
