Electrical resistivity tomography of the depletion zone of the Girová catastrophic landslide

Abstract:

V květnu roku 2010 vznikl v oblasti Vnějších Západních Karpat, v blízkosti vrcholu Girové (839 m n. m.) jeden z největších sesuvů na území České republiky. Aktivizace tohoto katastrofického sesuvu byla zapříčiněna hlavně extrémními srážkami, které v té době dosáhly hodnot 300 mm ve dnech 15. - 18. května. Vrchol Girové je strukturně predisponován zlomy s výskytem hluboce založeného sesouvání a byl formován svahovými procesy již v minulosti. Hlavní náplní této diplomové práce je aplikace elektrické odporové tomografie (ERT) v odlučné oblasti katastrofického sesuvu na Girové. Hlavním cílem měření bylo pochopení vzniku a vývoje této svahové deformace, potvrzení hypotézy o existenci zlomových struktur a detekce tahových trhlin, které mohou být předpokladem pro další retrogresivní vývoj sesuvu. V rámci komplexní geomorfologické analýzy byla zpracovaná rešerše literatury zabývající se aplikací ERT v průzkumu svahových deformací, realizace ERT měření v oblasti odlučné hrany a následná interpretace ERT měření v programu RES2DINV. Tyto výsledky byly konfrontovány s modely vytvořenými v programu RES2DMOD. V rámci terénního průzkumu byla vytvořena geomorfologická mapa. Na základě výsledků jsou objasněny hlavní příčiny vzniku této svahové deformace a její další pravděpodobný retrogresivní vývoj.

Abstract:

In May 2010, one of the largest landslides in the Czech Republic originated in the Outer Western Carpathians , near the top Girová (839 m a.s.l.). Activation of this disastrous landslide was caused mainly by extreme rainfalls, which reached values of 300 mm at that time from 15th to 18th May. The Girová peak is structurally predisposed by occurrence of faults with gravitation weakening of the mountain slope and it was formed by slope deformations in the past. The main topic of this thesis is the application of electrical resistance tomography in the separation area of the catastrophic landslide on Girová . The main object of measurement was to understand the formation and evolution of the slope deformation, confirmation of the hypothesis about the existence of the fault structures and detection of the tensile cracks that may be a supposition for the further development of the retrogressive landslide. The complete literature research was made according to the complex geomorphological analysis. The literature deals with the ERT application in the slope deformation research, realization of the ERT measurements in the headscarp and the subsequent interpretation of ERT measurements in the RES2DINV software. These results were compared with models created in the RES2DMOD. The geomorphologic map was created within the field survey. The main reasons of the creation of this slope deformation and further probable development are based on the results.
