The Children's Film and Television Festival of Ota Hofman: Past and Present

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vývojem Dětského filmového a televizního festivalu Oty Hofmana (dříve Národní přehlídkou filmů pro děti). Dramaturg Ota Hofman se stal klíčovou osobností již při zakládání festivalu v roce 1969 a neodmyslitelně ovlivnil jeho ráz. Základem mojí práce je objasnit historii a vývoj tohoto dětského festivalu a popsat jeho specifika, která Ostrov odlišovala od jiných filmových přehlídek. Součástí práce je sepsání přehledu doprovodných akcí v rámci jednotlivých ročníků a retrospektiva vítězných filmů. Práce poukazuje na význam estetické resp. filmové výchovy v dětském věku. Klade si za cíl popsat snahu a úsilí festivalového štábu o zachování plynulého chodu a existence festivalu. Mým záměrem je shrnout historii a současnost ostrovského festivalu a vzhledem k faktu, že dosud nikdo tento festival jako celek nezpracoval, tak poprvé umožnit veřejnosti získat celkový přehled dostupných informací.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the development of the Children's Film and Television Festival of Ota Hofman (formerly the National Film Festival for Children). The screenwriter Ota Hofman was a key figure in setting up the festival in 1969 and significantly influenced its character. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify the history and development of this children's festival and to describe the specific features that distinguished it from others. The thesis provides a summary of events of each season and offers a retrospective of each winning film. The work highlights the importance of aesthetics in film education in childhood. It aims to describe the attempts and efforts of the festival staff to maintain the smooth operation and continued existence of the festival. The intention of this thesis is to summarize the history and present-day organization of the film festival in Ostrov, to point out the fact that until now no one has chronicled this festival, and to allow the public for the first time to gain an overview of the information available
