Career needs in perspective of an employee in generation Y (Millennials) and employer

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou potřeb v oblasti kariéry v perspektivě zaměstnavatele a zaměstnanců řadících se svým narozením do generace Y a to ve vybrané organizaci brněnské pobočky mezinárodní IT organizace. Cílem této práce je odpovědět na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „Jaký je vztah mezi potřebami v oblasti kariéry v perspektivě zaměstnavatele a zaměstnanců v generaci Y?“. Teoretická část představuje hlavní koncepty a poznatky autorů v oblasti potřeb všeobecně a potřeb v kontextu kariéry jednotlivých subjektů, dále kariéry jako takové a generace Y. Metodologická část představuje popis metody a strategie výzkumu, sběr dat, výzkumný vzorek a proces jeho výběru spolu s možnými omezeními a limity výzkumu. Data získaná z kvalitativního výzkumu prostřednictvím polostrukturovaného interview, pozorování a analýzy dokumentů jsou interpretována v empirické části a to vždy v návaznosti na jednotlivé perspektivy zaměstnavatele a zaměstnanců generace Y v závislosti na dílčí výzkumné otázky. Závěrečná diskuze shrnuje nejdůležitější poznatky z výzkumu a představí odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the career needs in the perspective of an employer, and employees considered as Millennias in the Brno located branch of international IT company. The goal of this thesis is to answer the main research question: „What is the relationship between employer‘s and Millennial employees‘ career needs?“ The theoretical part presents the main concepts and findings of authors in topics such as general human needs and career needs in the context of employer and employees, career and last but not least it presents Generation Y (Millennials) and their career needs. The methodological part focuses onthe research itself, its methods, strategies, data collection, research sample and the selection process along with possible restrictions and limitations of the research. Data obtained from qualitative research through semistructured interview, observations and data analysis are interpreted in the empirical part always presented in relation to the employer (direct managers) and Millennial employees depending on the component research questions. Final discussion summarizes the key findings from the research and presents the answer to the main research question.
