The literary texts in teaching German as a foreign language at Czech primary and secondary schools

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the use of literary texts in the teaching of German as a second foreign language in Czech primary and secondary schools. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether German teachers work with literary texts in German lessons, what reasons they have for doing so and on the basis of which approaches they work with literary texts in the classroom. The theoretical part deals with literature and literary texts in foreign language teaching in general and describes the criteria for selecting literary texts for foreign language teaching. It then describes the development of literary didactics and approaches to working with literary texts and characterises selected current approaches to working with literary texts in the foreign language classroom. The empirical part is qualitative in nature and was conducted through semi-structured interviews with German teachers at Czech primary and secondary schools. The collected data was analysed and interpreted in the form of open coding. Finally, the results were discussed with the specialised literature.

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá využitím literárních textů ve výuce němčiny jako druhého cizího jazyka na českých základních a středních školách. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda učitelky a učitelé němčiny ve výuce němčiny pracují či nepracují s literárními texty, jaké k tomu mají důvody a na základě jakých přístupů s literárními texty v hodinách pracují. Teoretická část se obecně věnuje literatuře a literárním textům ve výuce cizích jazyků, popisuje kritéria pro výběr literárních textů do výuky cizího jazyka. V návaznosti pak popisuje vývoj didaktiky literatury a přístupů, podle kterých se s literárními texty pracovalo a charakterizuje vybrané aktuální přístupy pro práci s literárním textem ve výuce cizího jazyka. Empirická část je kvalitativního charakteru a byla realizována prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s učitelkami a učiteli německého jazyka na českých základních a středních školách. Sesbíraná data byla analyzována formou otevřeného kódování a interpretována. Zjištěné výsledky byly v závěru diskutovány s odbornou literaturou.
