Impact of financial crisis on central bank monetary policy

Abstract:

The main objective of this bachelor work is to define the causes of the global financial crisis and how it influenced the decisions on the implementation of European Central Bank’s monetary policy. The first section summarizes the course of the crisis and tries to explain some of its deeper causes. The second part is dedicated to standard monetary instruments which the central bank is using under all circumstances. In the last section, we analyze the conditions when the bank decides to proceed with non-standard monetary policy, operations used and how could they be phased out.

Abstract:

Hlavným cieľom tejto bakalárskej práce je definovať príčiny vzniku globálnej finančnej krízy a spôsob, akým ovplyvnila rozhodnutia o vykonávaní menovej politiky Európskej centrálnej banky. Prvá časť sumarizuje priebeh krízy a snaží sa priblížiť aj niektoré jej hlbšie príčiny. Druhá časť je venovaná štandardným menovým nástrojom centrálnej banky, ktoré využíva za každých okolností. Posledná časť sa zameriava na analýzu podmienok, kedy sa banka rozhodne pristúpiť k neštandardnej menovej politike, operácie ktoré pri nej používa ako aj spôsob ich ukončenia.
