Psychosocial correlates of harmony in life

Abstract:

The main theme of the diploma thesis is the psychosocial correlates of harmony in life, which is a new concept of psychological well-being. We deal with the validation of the scales in Czech version, which is well documented in the English language as well as other translations used in the present studies, and the starting point of the work is the mapping of the relationship of harmony in the life, compassion and frequency of positive and negative emotions. In the theoretical part, we try to define individual concepts as harmony in life, in which we define terms such as quality of life and well-being, we also define the concept of compassion, components and pracitices of compassion, and on what basis the feeling works. In the last theoretical chapter we devote the definition of emotion to the difference defining positive and negative emotions, and how emotions work. The main question of the study is that which from compassion, positive and negative emotionality most predict harmony in life. Our data comes from questionnaires handled in the international Hope Barometer survey in 2017, involving 320 respondents of all age groups, a wide range of occupations, and type of education and the questionnaire form of finding values depends on the subjective assessment of respondents' tendencies. We have found that the most powerful predictor of harmony in life is the positive emotionality (B = 0,734, p < 0,001), negative emotionality negatively predicts harmony with the weakness of the association (B = -0,229, p < 0,001), and although the correlation of compassion and harmony has come to be significant, other variables have shown that what they had to predict compassion would predict better ones, and compassion would become insignificant (B = 0,064, p = 0,098). The conclusion is that all the variables of compassion, positive emotionality and negative emotionality correlate with the harmony in life, also they are examined in relation to demographic variables and a further direction of research is proposed at the end of the work.

Abstract:

Hlavnou témou práce sú psychosociálne súvislosti harmónie v živote, ktorá je novým konceptom psychologickej osobnej pohody. Zaoberáme sa validizáciou českého znenia škál, ktoré sú dobre zdokumentované v anglickom jazyku a tiež v iných prekladoch používaných v súčasných štúdiách a východzím bodom práce je zmapovanie vzťahu harmónie v živote, súcitu a frekvencie pozitívnych a negatívnych emócií. V teoretickej časti sa snažíme o bližšie vymedzenie jednotlivých pojmov ako harmónia v živote, pri ktorej definujeme termíny ako kvalita života a osobná pohoda, ďalej sa venujeme vymedzeniu pojmu súcit, jeho komponentom, postupom súcitenia a tomu, na akej báze súcit funguje a následne sa venujeme vymedzeniu pojmu emócie s rozdielom definovania pozitívnej a negatívnej emocionality. Hlavnou otázkou štúdie je, ktorá z premenných súcit, pozitívna a negatívna emocionalita najviac predikuje harmóniu v živote. Dáta pochádzajú z dotazníkov administrovaných v rámci medzinárodného výskumu Hope Barometer v roku 2017, na ktorom sa zúčastnilo 320 respondentov všetkých vekových skupín, širokého okruhu povolaní a typu vzdelania a použitá dotazníková forma zistenia hodnoty hodnôt je závislá od subjektívneho posúdenia tendencií respondentmi. Zistili sme, že najsilnejším predikátom harmónie v živote je pozitívna emocionalita (B = 0,734, p < 0,001), negatívna emocionalita negatívne predikuje harmóniu slabou mierou asociácie (B = -0,229, p < 0,001) a i keď korelácia súcitu a harmónie vyšla signifikantná, vplyvom ďalších premenných sa preukázalo, že to, čo mal predikovať súcit predikujú lepšie ony a súcit sa tak stal nesignifikantným (B = 0,064, p = 0,098). Záverom je, že všetky skúmané premenné korelujú s harmóniou, pričom sú preskúmané vo vzťahu k demografickým premenným a navrhnutý je tiež ďalší smer výskumu.
