The separation anxiety in asthmatic preschool children

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice separační úzkosti u předškolních dětí trpících astmatem bronchiale v porovnání se zdravými předškolními dětmi. Záměrem práce bylo zkoumat, zda v tomto směru existuje mezi oběma soubory dětí rozdíl, tzn. jestli astmatické předškolní děti vykazují vyšší míru separační úzkosti než děti zdravé. Fenomén separační úzkosti byl navíc spolu s typem citové vazby a mírou hyperprotektivity sledován i u matek těchto dětí. V rámci práce bylo zjišťováno, zda matky astmatických předškolních dětí vykazují vyšší míru separační úzkosti a hyperprotektivity než matky zdravých předškolních dětí a zda je u nich častěji zastoupen nejistý styl citové vazby. Výzkumu se celkem zúčastnilo 152 respondentů, tzn. 4 skupiny respondentů po 38 členech. Jednalo se o 2 skupiny předškolních dětí (zdravé vs. astmatické) po 38 členech (24 chlapců, 14 dívek), jejichž průměrný věk byl 5 let (SD = 0,771) a jenž byly párovány z hlediska pohlaví a věku, a 2 skupiny matek těchto dětí, tzn. 38 matek dětí s astmatem (M = 35,34 let; SD = 5,283) a 38 matek zdravých dětí (M = 34,45 let; SD = 4,446). Na základě výsledků provedených analýz lze konstatovat, že chronické onemocnění předškolního dítěte astmatem bronchiale se může promítat ve zvýšené míře separační úzkosti takto nemocných dětí, ale prokazatelně se neodráží ve zvýšeném hyperprotektivním chování jeho matky, ani vyšší míře separační úzkosti jí prožívané. Předpoklad vyšší četnosti zastoupení nejistého stylu citové vazby u matek astmaticky nemocných předškolních dětí také potvrzen nebyl.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the issue of separation anxiety among preschool children who suffer from asthma bronchiale in comparison with healthy preschool children. The aim of the thesis was to explore whether there is any difference between these two groups of children, i.e. whether preschool children with asthma suffer more from the separation anxiety than healthy children. This phenomenon of separation anxiety was also explored among mothers of these children, together with attachment style and degree of overprotection. Within this thesis it was examined whether mothers of the preschool children with asthma show higher degree of separation anxiety and overprotection than mothers of healthy preschool children, and whether these mothers have more frequently unsecure attachment style. In the research participated 152 respondents, i.e. 4 groups of respondents, each of 38 members. These were 2 groups of preschool children (healthy vs. with asthma) of 38 members (24 boys, 14 girls), who were 5 years old in average (SD = 0,771) and who were paired according to their gender and age, and 2 groups of mothers of these children, i.e. (M = 34,45 years; SD = 4,446). Based on the results of the analyses, it could be claimed that chronic disease of preschool children of asthma bronchiale could be reflected in higher degree of separation anxiety of these children, but it is not demonstrably projected in increased overprotection behaviour of their mothers, nor in the higher separation anxiety of the mothers. The assumption of higher representation of unsecure attachment style among mothers of preschool children suffering from asthma also wasn´t confirmed.
