This bachelor's thesis discusses the artistic phenomenon called contemporary circus. The first part deals with formation of contemporary circus and its origins. This bachelor's thesis presents also the development of this kind of art. After that, we present contemporary circus in the Czech Republic and we study in which measure it is present in our country. Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o uměleckém fenoménu zvaném nový cirkus. První část se zabývá tím, jak vůbec nový cirkus vznikl a kam sahají jeho kořeny. Práce mapuje vývoj tohoto druhu umění. Dále představíme nový cirkus v České republice a zabýváme se tím, nakolik se u nás nový cirkus prezentuje.
