Career development strategies of Russian speaking foreigners with higher education on the Czech labour market

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá pracovním uplatněním kvalifikovaných ruskojazyčných cizinců v České republice (ČR). Jejím hlavním cílem je prozkoumat strategie budování kariéry u rusky mluvících cizinců s vysokoškolským vzděláním na českém trhu práce. Teoretická část práce vymezuje problematiku uplatňování cizinců z třetích zemí v ČR a shrnuje poznatky týkající se strategií budování kariéry. Tyto informace jsou zpracovány metodou literární rešerše a slouží jako podklad pro analytickou část. Jádrem dané diplomové práce je empirická část, která představuje s využitím metody tematické analýzy získané výsledky kvalitativního šetření, realizovaného metodou polostrukturovaného hloubkového rozhovoru se třemi skupinami respondentů, rozdělených podle tří strategií, ve kterých jsou zaměstnáni. V průběhu analýzy byly zjištěny faktory ovlivňující volbu jednotlivé strategie, vnímané výhody a nedostatky každé z nich, spokojenost cizinců s prací v rámci strategií a souvislost vybrané strategie s procesem a úrovní integrace migrantů do hostitelské společnosti.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the job prospects of qualified Russian-speaking foreigners in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to explore the career development strategies of Russian-speaking foreigners with higher education in the Czech labour market. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the issue of the application of foreigners from non-EU countries in the Czech Republic and a summary of knowledge concerning career development strategies. The core of the thesis is the experiential part, which presents the results of a qualitative research, analysed using the method of thematic analysis, realized by semi-structured in-depth interviews with three groups of respondents, divided according to the three strategies in which they are employed. The study presents the factors influencing the choice of each strategy, the perceived advantages and disadvantages of the strategies, the job satisfaction of foreigners within the strategies and the connection of the chosen strategy with the process and level of migrants’ integration into the host society.
