The Income Inequality and the Tax Burden in V4 countries

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na ověření a kvantifikaci vztahu mezi příjmo-vou nerovností a daňovým zatížením obyvatelstva v zemích Visegrádské čtyřky. Při zpracování práce byla použita data Eurostatu, OECD a Světové banky, avšak data Eurostatu jako jediná prokázala významný vztah mezi indikátory. Byla pro-vedena rozsáhlá korelační analýza mezi jednotlivými metodikami v rámci indiká-torů příjmové nerovnosti a daňové zátěže a následně provedena korelační a pa-nelová analýza zaměřující se na vztahy mezi indikátory v období 1995–2018 avšak dle dostupnosti dat. Výsledný panelový model byl odhadnut pomocí modelu s fixními efekty a prokazuje statisticky významný nepřímo úměrný vliv daňové zátěže vyjádřené pomocí složené daňové kvóty na příjmovou nerovnost repre-zentovanou Giniho koeficientem a poměrem S80/S20.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focused on the verification and quantification of the relationship between the income inequality and the tax burden in the Visegrad countries. The data come from the Eurostat, OECD and World Bank databases, but only Eurostat data showed significant relationship between the indicators. The extensive correlation analysis was performed between datasets from different sources within the indicators of income inequality and the tax burden, and subsequently the correlation and panel analysis focusing on the relationship between indicators were performed for the period 1995–2018 but depending on the availability of the data. The final models of panel regression were estimated using a fixed effects model. They demonstrated the statistically significant inverse effect of the tax burden expressed by the compound tax quota on the income inequality represented by the Gini coefficient and the S80/S20 ratio.
