The sharing economy in the tourism industry

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá sdílenou ekonomikou v oblasti cestovního ruchu, její terminologií, výhodami a nevýhodami a problematikou její regulace. První kapitola se zabývá vymezením pojmů sdílená ekonomika, jejími alternativními výrazy a pojmem cestovní ruch. Druhá kapitola zkoumá postavení sdílené ekonomiky v cestovním ruchu a zvlášť rozebírá její platformy v oblasti ubytovacích služeb, dopravy a ostatních služeb turismu. Třetí kapitola porovnává regulaci klasických ubytovacích služeb a platformy Airbnb a shrnuje aktuální situaci regulace Airbnb v České republice, Evropě a USA. Poslední kapitola se věnuje výzkumu na apartmánech Downtown Suites v Praze, který zkoumá využití různých klasických rezervačních portálů oproti platformě Airbnb. Ze všech shromážděných informací byly vyvozeny závěry a doporučeny kroky vedoucí ke vhodné regulaci Airbnb v České republice.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the sharing economy in the tourism industry, its terminology, advantages and disadvantages and the issues with its regulation. The first chapter looks into the terminology of the sharing economy, its alternative terms and the term tourism. The second chapter focuses on the position of the sharing economy in the tourism market and examines its accommodation services platforms, transportation platforms and other tourism services platforms. The third chapter compares the regulation of the classic accommodation services with the regulation of the Airbnb platform and summarizes the actual state of the regulation of the Airbnb in the Czech republic, in Europe and in the USA. The last chapter is devoted to the research of use of all the reservation portals and the Airbnb platform in Downtown Suites Prague. The obtained information lead to certain conclusions and outlines of the possible suitable Airbnb regulation in the Czech republic.
