Abstract:

Science Fiction World as Perceived by Primo Levi Science-fiction Elements in collection of short stories Storie naturali This thesis is concerned with the less renowned short stories by Italian writer Primo Levi who mostly gained wide recognition among his readers through his books covering the topic of concentration camps. Those included mainly the books Se questo e un uomo and La tregua. This thesis is focused on his first collection of short stories Storie naturali which differs from his previous books in many aspects. The book was initially received in a negative manner by a number of literary critics and reviewers since it was labelled as too humorous, overly light-hearted and mainly as a sample of science fiction genre. In my thesis I attempted to analyse what science fiction elements are to be found in the short stories included in the book as well as the aspects with respect to which the book invites the label of the science fiction genre. I also pointed out the factors due to which the book oversteps the boundaries of the general science fiction framework.

Vědeckofantastický svět Prima Leviho Vědeckofantastické prvky ve sbírce Storie naturali Diplomová práce se zabývá méně známou povídkovou tvorbou italského spisovatele Prima Leviho, který se do podvědomí čtenářů zapsal především svými knihami s námětem koncentračního tábora, Se questo e un uomo a La tregua. Diplomová práce se zabývá první povídkovou sbírkou, Storie naturali, která se v mnohých aspektech odlišuje od autorových knih předešlých. Mnoha literárními kritiky nebyla zpočátku přijata, protože byla označována za příliš žertovnou, lehkovážnou, a především vědeckofantastickou. Diplomová práce rozebírá, jaké vědeckofantastické prvky lze najít v krátkých povídkách této sbírky, v čem tedy povídkovou sbírku můžeme označit za vědeckofantastickou a v čem obecný rámec vědeckofantastického žánru převyšuje.
