Analysis of international oil trade in selected African countries and its impact on development

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá mezinárodním obchodem s ropou u afrických exportérů ropy a lidským rozvojem. Cílem je identifikovat podoby a struktury exportu u vybraných zemí a zjistit, nakolik zisky z exportu ropy ovlivňují vývoj lidského rozvoje. Byla použita data z UNCTAD, UNDP, World Bank a UNDP. Za účelem komparace zemí a jejich ropných exportů byla porovnávána dynamika vývoje koncentrace na ropu a analýza cílových partnerů. Za účelem kvantifikování vlivů na rozvoj došlo k analýze závislosti zisků z exportu ropy na socioekonomickém vývoji metodou regrese u zemí, jejichž export tvoří z 80 % ropné produkty. Výsledky dokazují, že export ropy je náchylný na externí šoky a je velice různorodý, probíhá hlavně do států Evropské unie a roste export do rozvojových států. Následné závěry spíše vyvrací stanovenou hypotézu ohledně rozvoje a popírají tak pojetí státu jako dokonalého distributora ropného bohatství do veřejných sektorů.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis deals with international oil trade among African oil exporters and human development. The aim is to identify the patterns and structures of exports in selected countries and to see how profits from oil exports affect the development of human development. Data from UNCTAD, UNDP, World Bank and UNDP were used. In order to compare countries and their oil exports, the dynamics of the oil exports and concentrations and the analysis of partners were compared. In order to quantify the effects on development, the dependence of oil export profits on socio-economic developmens was analysed by the regression method for countries whose exports are made of 80 % oil The results show that oil exports are prone to external shocks and very diverse, realized mainly to European Union countries and exports to developing countries are rising. The subsequent conclusions rather refute the established hypothesis and thus contradict the notion of the state as the perfect distributor of the oil wealth to public services.
