Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union and Support to the Defence Industry

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Společná bezpečnostní a obranná politika Evropské unie a podpora obranného průmyslu se zabývá analýzou obranně-průmyslové politiky Evropské unie (EU) a obranným průmyslem Spojených států amerických (USA). Jejím cílem je determinovat překážky bránící spolupráci EU a USA v oblasti obranného průmyslu a navrhnout opatření, díky kterým by mohlo dojít k prohloubení strategického partnerství mezi EU a USA v otázkách obranně-průmyslové spolupráce. První část práce se zaměřuje na teoretická východiska průmyslové politiky a obranně-průmyslové spolupráce. V druhé části práce je provedena analýza evropské obranně-průmyslové politiky. Jsou identifikovány klíčové iniciativy a opatření, které EU přijala s cílem podpořit konkurenceschopnost a inovaci v tomto sektoru za účelem posílení své bezpečnosti. Třetí kapitola se zabývá obranným průmyslem USA se zvláštním zaměřením na protekcionistické nástroje uplatňované vládou USA v sektoru obranného průmyslu, které brání intenzivnější spolupráci mezi EU a USA. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty klíčové závěry a doporučení, které mohou vést ke zlepšení spolupráce mezi EU a USA v oblasti obranného průmyslu.

Abstract:

The thesis Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union and Support to the Defence Industry deals with the analysis of the defence industrial policy of the European Union (EU) and the defence industry of the United States of America (USA). It aims to identify the obstacles to EU-US defence cooperation and to propose measures that could deepen the strategic partnership between the EU and the US on defence industrial cooperation. The first part of the thesis focuses on the theoretical background of industrial policy and defence industrial cooperation. The second part of the thesis analyses the European defence industrial policy. Key initiatives and measures taken by the EU to promote competitiveness and innovation in this sector in order to strengthen its security are identified. The third chapter deals with the US defence industry, with a particular focus on the protectionist instruments applied by the US government in the defence sector, which hinder increased cooperation between the EU and the US. The thesis concludes with key conclusions and recommendations that can lead to improved EU-US defence cooperation.
