Progress of the views of society on aging and old age in the context of social work

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá srovnáním postojů společnosti ke stárnutí a stáří v průběhu časového období od konce II. světové války po současnost, a to v souvislosti s výkonem sociální práce. Je použito metody kvalitativního historického výzkumu. Komparací primárních a sekundárních pramenů bude možné zjistit, zda je na fenomén stáří pohlíženo dnes jinak, než v minulosti a shledat, jakým způsobem se vyvíjela sociální péče o seniory v průběhu sledovaných let. Jako ilustrace k textu je použito metody orální historie, kdy na základě rozhovoru se seniorkou je možné některé časové úseky srovnat s jejími vzpomínkami na analyzovanou dobu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the comparison of the attitudes of society towards aging and old age during the time period from the end of 2nd World War to the present, and that in connection with the performance of social work. A method of qualitative historical research is used. By comparing primary and secondary sources, it will be possible to see whether the phenomenon of age is viewed differently today than in the past and to see how the social care for seniors developed over the monitored years. An oral history method is used to illustrate the text, when, based on an interview with the senior, some time slots can be compared with her memories of the analyzed times.
