Occupational Diseases in the Automotive Industry in Terms of Central Bohemia Region

Abstract:

Předložená rigorózní práce se zabývá analýzou nemocí z povolání v automobilovém průmyslu ve Středočeském kraji z pohledu sociální geografie. Předmětem studia byly tři největší automobilové firmy ve Středočeském kraji, jejichž význam pro hospodářství ČR ovšem hranice kraje přesahuje. Výskyt nemocí z povolání v těchto firmách se nelišil od celostátní průměrné incidence nemocí z povolání (2,9/10000 zaměstnaných v roce 2011). V rámci práce byly testovány hypotézy o vztahu mezi výskytem nemocí z povolání na jedné straně a pohlavím zaměstnanců, jejich věkem, výší průměrné mzdy a mírou nezaměstnanosti v okrese na straně druhé. Data pro potřeby studie byla získána vlastním dotazníkovým šetřením a z informačních systémů a databází. Výzkum prokázal, že nemoci z povolání se vyskytovaly statisticky významně častěji u žen než u mužů (RR = 9,71, 95 % CI: 4,8-20,1) a u osob nad 40 let věku ve srovnání s osobami mladšími (RR = 3,38, 95 % CI: 1,7-6,8). Hypotézu o vztahu mezi výskytem nemocí z povolání a průměrnou výší mzdy nebylo možné testovat, jelikož nebyla k dispozici potřebná data. Domněnka autora, že v okresech s vyšší mírou nezaměstnanosti je výskyt nemocí z povolání nižší, nebyla potvrzena, naopak byl naznačen trend k rostoucímu výskytu nemocí z povolání s rostoucí mírou nezaměstnanosti. Práce přináší i doporučení k prevenci nemocí z povolání zaměřená hlavně na kvalitní výkon pracovnělékařské péče u zaměstnavatelů – především na vstupní a periodické lékařské prohlídky. Důležité jsou také investice do změny pracovních postupů (např. zlepšení ergonomie práce, častější rotace zaměstnanců, omezování expozice zaměstnanců rizikovým faktorům) a zavádění nových technologií do výroby, které by postupně nahrazovaly těžkou manuální práci lidí atp.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of occupational diseases in the automotive industry in the Central Bohemian region from the perspective of social geography. There were the three largest automobile companies in the Central Region, whose importance for the country's economy goes beyond the boundaries of the region, chosen. The incidence of occupational diseases in these companies did not differ from the national average incidence of occupational diseases (2.9 / 10,000 in 2011). In the thesis there were, among others, tested hypotheses about the relationship between the incidence of occupational diseases, workers´ gender and their age on one hand, and the average wage and the unemployment rate in the district, on the other hand. The research has shown that occupational diseases are statistically significantly more common in women than in men (RR = 9.71, 95% CI: 4.8 to 20.1) and in persons over 40 years of age compared with younger persons (RR = 3.38, 95% CI: 1.7 to 6.8). Hypothesis about the relationship between the incidence of occupational diseases and the average wage could not be tested, because of lack of data. Author‘s assumption, that in districts with higher unemployment rates the incidence of occupational diseases is lower, has not been confirmed. On the contrary, the incidence of occupational diseases showed an increasing trend with rising unemployment. The thesis brings some recommendations for the prevention of occupational diseases mainly focused on quality implementation of occupational health services - especially the pre-employment and periodic medical examinations. Investment in changes of working practices (e.g. ergonomics, frequent staff rotation, reduction of workers´ exposure to risk factors) and the implementation of new technologies into production, which would gradually replace heavy manual labor etc. are also important and highly desirable.
