The dilemmas of workers in direct care at the selected workplace of sheltered housing for persons with mental disabilities

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na dilemata, se kterými se potýkají pracovníci v přímé péči na vybraném pracovišti chráněného bydlení pro osoby s mentálním postižením. Výzkum ukazuje, jak pracovníci prožívají dilemata ve své práci, jak zvládají řešení každodenních pracovních dilemat, a zjišťuje jejich potřebu podpory v řešení těchto dilemat. Smyslem práce je hledání odpovědi na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: Jakou podporu v řešení svých dilemat by potřebovali pracovníci na vybraném pracovišti chráněného bydlení? Autorka se prací snaží upozornit pracovníky a vedení organizace na zátěž pracovníků v podobě nejistoty, vyplývající z časté konfrontace se situacemi, u nichž není jasné jednoznačné řešení a je obtížné vybírat mezi vylučujícími se nepříznivými možnostmi, a potřebu tuto zátěž průběžně ošetřovat dostupnými prostředky. Výsledky výzkumu by měly posloužit k návrhům a aplikaci opatření, ošetřujících zátěž pracovníků, a tím snížit náročnost výkonu jejich povolání i její negativní dopad na ně samotné, na klienty i organizaci.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the dilemmas faced by workers in direct care at the selected workplace of sheltered housing for persons with mental disabilities. Research shows how do workers experience dilemmas in their work, how do they manage to solve everyday working dilemmas and it finds out their need for support in solving these dilemmas. The objective of thesis is to answer the main research question: What kind of support in solving their dilemmas do the workers need at the selected workplace of sheltered housing? The author tries to draw the staff and management´s attention to occupational load in the form of uncertainty consequent from frequent confrontation with situations in which there is no clear and unambiguous solution and it is difficult to choose between excluded unfavourable possibilities, and to need to care this load continuously by available means. The research results should serve as the proposals and the application of measures, caring for the load of the workers, thereby to reduce demands of their profession performance and also negative impact on themselves, the clients and the organization.
