Studying during the Covid-19 pandemic: How do students studying teaching at the Faculty of Arts - University of Ostrava perceive online learning

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem distanční výuky v době pandemie Covid-19, konkrétně "Jak vnímají online výuku studenti učitelských oborů Filozofické fakulty Ostravské univerzity." Teoretická část se opírá o sociologické teorie rolí a zkoumá role učitelů ve vzdělávacím procesu. Dále obsahuje také poznatky ze sociologie vzdělání a poukazuje na nové trendy v rámci výuky a jejich implementaci do studia učitelství. Vysvětluje také základní pojmy z oblasti distanční výuky a jejím úkolem je ovšem také poukázat na důležitost vzájemné komunikace a praxe v oblasti učitelství. Teoretické poznatky ověřuji v praktické části bakalářské práce, která je založena na kvantitativní metodologii. Cílem je pomocí dotazníkového šetření zjistit, jak se studenti učitelských oborů připravují na profesi učitele/ učitelky v rámci online výuky: jak se studenti/studentky adaptovali na distanční výuku, jak vnímají skutečnost, že nelze absolvovat praxe a vyzkoušet si tak učitelskou profesi v reálném životě, jak se u nich vyvinula schopnost komunikovat a učit, a také jak se mění samotná role učitele.

Abstract:

This thesis discusses the theme of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, more specifically "How do students studying teaching at Faculty of Arts - University of Ostrava perceive online learning." The theoretical part of the thesis explains the theory of sociological roles and examines the roles teachers play in educational process. It also contains some basics from the field of sociology of education and emphasizes new trends in education, and their implementation into tutorship. Moreover, it states the basal information about online learning and the importance of mutual communication and praxis regarding teaching. I verify the theoretical observations in the practical part of the thesis, which is based on quantitative methodology. With the help of a questionnaire, it is the aim to discover how do students studying teaching prepare for the profession of a teacher while learning online: how the students have adapted to online learning, how do they perceive not being able to have a praxis, and therefore try teaching in real life. Furthermore, how did they develop the ability of communication and teaching, and how does the role of a teacher changes.
