Participation of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities from the Perspective of Social Workers

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou participace osob s lehkou a středně těžkou mentální retardací v kontextu sociální služby z pohledu pomáhajících pracovníků. Teoretická část práce předkládá základní vymezení termínu participace, představuje různé modely participace a bariéry podpory participace v kontextu sociální služby. Termín participace definuje ve vztahu k výkladu disability dle Mezinárodní klasifikace funkčních schopností, disability a zdraví, a dále ve vazbě na svéprávnost osoby, její sebeurčení a rozhodování v kontextu vybraných lidskoprávních dokumentů. Výzkumná část práce zkoumá problematiku podpory participace osob s mentální disabilitou z perspektivy pomáhajících pracovníků (sociálních pracovníků a pracovníků v sociálních službách dle zákona č. 108/2006 Sb., zákona o sociálních službách), definuje participativní přístup, jeho hlavní složky a nástroje pro jeho uplatnění na základě zkušeností z praxe jednotlivých pracovníků, současně se zabývá vymezením základních oblastí podpory participace v kontextu sociální služby a vymezením základních bariér na straně pracovníka, klienta, organizace a prostředí klienta. Celkový rozsah práce je 22 332 slov.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the issue of participation of people with mild and moderate mental retardation from the perspective of social workers in the context of social services. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the term participation,presents different models of participation and defines also the barriers to supporting participation of client in the context of social services. The participation is here defined in relation to the interpretation of disability according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, as well as in relation to the individual´s autonomy, self-determination and decision-making in the context of particular legal documents. The research part of the thesis investigates the issue of support of the participation of persons with intellectual disability from the perspective of social workers. This part defines the participatory approach, its main components and tools for its implementation based on the practical experience of social workers. Further it focuses on definition of the basic areas of supported participation in the context of social services and the definition of basic barriers on the side of social worker, client, organization and client´s environment. The overall scope of the thesis is 22 332 words.
