Environmental education in practice: children growing up in remote rural areas - "back in the land"

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá fenoménem „návrat k přírodě“, jehož aktéry jsou jednotlivci nebo rodiny, kteří se rozhodli odejít z města „na samoty“, tzn. do odlehlých venkovských oblastí. Cílem bakalářské práce je popsat fenomén „návratu k přírodě“ v jeho souvislosti s environmentálními postoji a environmentální výchovou, prostřednictvím výzkumu pak popsat faktory ovlivňující přenos environmentálního vědomí rodičů do postojů a hodnot dětí. Teoretická část se zabývá popisem fenoménu „návratu k přírodě“ v českých i zahraničních podmínkách, základní charakteristikou procesu výchovy s důrazem na specifika výchovy ekologické a souvislostmi fenoménu „návratu k přírodě“ s ekologickou výchovou. Výzkumná část bakalářské práce se odvíjí od kvalitativní metody tzv. zakotvené teorie a jejím základem je analýza dat získaných třemi rozhovory s matkami a dětmi z prostředí „samot“ a jedním rozhovorem s matkou a dcerami z města.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the back-to-the-land phenomenon that engages people or whole families who have decided to “drop” the city life and to live in isolated and remote rural areas. The objective is to describe the back-to-the-land phenomenon in the relation to environmental attitudes and to environmental education. By means of the research the thesis aims to describe factors influencing the transmission of parents´ environmental consciousness into the attitudes and values of their children. The theoretical part includes the description of the back-to-the-land phenomenon in the Czech and other countries´ context and essential characteristics of the education process (focusing on the specifics of the environmental education). This part also deals with the parallel between the back-to-the-land phenomenon and the environmental education. The investigative part of the thesis is based on the qualitative method of the grounded theory. The research includes 3 interviews with mothers and their children from “back-in-the-land” and 1 interview with a mother and her daughters form the city.
