Brno: Mendelova univerzita v Brně, 2026. Diplomová práce se zabývá detailním srovnáním aktivně a pasivně spravovaných amerických akciových fondů s důrazem na heterogenitu napříč investičními kategoriemi a vliv moderního distribučního modelu – robo-advisory platforem. Teoretická část přináší rešerši poznatků z oblastí efektivnosti trhů, asset pricing modelů, toků investic a chování investorů, doplněnou o kontext robo-advisory platforem a umělé inteligence v investičním rozhodování. Empirická analýza je provedena na vzorku 3 158 fondů za období leden 2006 až prosinec 2025, rozčleněných do šesti investičních kategorií. Hlavním cílem práce je porovnat rizikově upravenou výkonnost obou typů správy za pomoci CAPM a Carhartova čtyřfaktorového modelu. Dalšími cíli jsou zkoumání vazby mezi minulou výkonností a toky kapitálu pomocí panelové regrese a posouzení vlivu poplatků robo-advisory platforem na výkonnost pasivní správy. Výsledky jsou diskutovány v kontextu aktuálního poznání a na jejich základě jsou formulována doporučení pro praktické využití.

Kodýtek, P. A Detailed Comparison of Active and Passive Investment Fund Management: The Dynamics of the Impact of Modern Technologies, Investment Platforms, and AI. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2026. This diploma thesis provides a detailed comparison of actively and passively managed U.S. equity funds, with emphasis on heterogeneity across investment categories and the impact of the modern distribution model — robo-advisory platforms. The theoretical part provides a literature review covering market efficiency, asset pricing models, investment flows, and investor behaviour, supplemented by context on robo-advisory platforms and artificial intelligence in investment decision-making. The empirical analysis is conducted on a sample of 3,158 funds covering the period from January 2006 to December 2025, classified into six investment categories. The main objective of the thesis is to compare the risk-adjusted performance of both management types using the CAPM and Carhart's four-factor model. Additional objectives include examining the relationship between past performance and capital flows using panel regression, and assessing the impact of robo-advisory platform fees on the performance of passive management. The results are discussed in the context of existing literature, and recommendations for practical application are formulated based on these findings.
