Security environment of the Asia-Pacific region in the 21st century

Anotace:

Cílem práce je strukturovaně a uceleně představit bezpečnostní dynamiku Asijsko-pacifického regionu v 21. století, která je ovlivněna mnoha faktory, jako je například rostoucí napětí, střetávání a soupeření jednotlivých státních aktérů v regionu, a jejich rostoucí ambice. Tohoto chce práce dosáhnout představením státních aktérů, kteří mají v regionu největší vliv, zjistit jejich sledované zájmy, činnost v regionu, s kým soupeří a jejich reakce na dění a jevy v regionu. Věnuje se v rámci možností též menším aktérům a aktérům nestátním a jejich významu v regionu. Práce nakonec shrnuje aktuální bezpečnostní dynamiku Asijsko-pacifického regionu. Práce též představuje řídící síly této dynamiky. Práce zodpoví následující výzkumné otázky.: Jak vypadá současná dynamika v regionu, co je „hnacím motorem“ této dynamiky? Jaké akce a zájmy mají státní aktéři v tomto regionu?

Abstract:

The goal of this thesis is to present the security dynamics of the Asia-Pacific region in the 21st century in a structured and comprehensive way, which is influenced by many factors such as the rising tensions, clashes and rivalries of various state actors in the region, and their growing ambitions. The thesis aims to achieve this by presenting the state actors that have the most influence in the region, identifying their pursued interests, activities in the region, with whom they compete, and their reactions to events and phenomena in the region. To the extent possible, this thesis also looks at smaller actors and non-state actors and their importance in the region. Finally, the thesis summarizes the current security dynamics in the Asia-Pacific region. The thesis also presents what and who is driving this dynamics and how. The thesis answers the following research questions: what does the current dynamic in the region look like, what is "driving" this dynamic? What are the actions and interests of state actors in the region?
