Specific aspects of reporting under IFRS in Insurance and Reinsurance companies

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá specifickým účetním vykazováním pojišťoven dle Mezinárodních standardů účetního výkaznictví (IFRS). Hlavním cílem práce je přiblížit tuto problematiku, zaměřit se na novou úpravu účetního výkaznictví v této oblasti a na její dopad na účetní jednotky, které jsou pojišťovnou nebo zajišťovnou. V teoretické části práce je kladen důraz na představení úpravy účetního výkaznictví pojišťoven dle IFRS do konce roku 2022 a úpravy nové. Praktická část práce je věnována srovnání obou účetních úprav a analýze očekávaného dopadu nové úpravy na příkladu konkrétní společnosti z praxe.

Abstract:

This master thesis focuses on the specific financial reporting of Insurance and Reinsurance companies according to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The main aim of this thesis is to introduce the specifics of financial reporting in the abovementioned companies with a focus on the new rules applicable from 2023 and the assessment of its impact on the Insurance companies. In the theoretical part, the regulatory requirements in Insurance industry are explained, followed by the explanation of the IFRS regulation valid until the end of 2022 and the current one. In the practical part, the thesis compares both regulations and analyzes the impact of implementing the new rules in a specific company based in the Czech Republic
