Nutritional status of post-ICU patients

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje zkoumání výživového stavu pacientů v kritickém stavu, se zaměřením na pacienty s onemocněním Covid-19, kteří byli hospitalizováni na jednotkách intenzivní péče. Současně byl sledován jejich následný vývoj nutričního stavu v čase po jejich propuštění. Tento stav byl zjišťován na základě nutričního vyšetření s využitím laboratorních hodnot, váhy, BMI a výsledků bioimpedanční analýzy. V teoretické části práce je probrána problematika výživy kriticky nemocných, spolu se specifiky výživy kriticky nemocných na UPV s onemocněním Covid-19. Následně jsou zde současné poznatky o tomto onemocnění a také informace o parametrech a vyšetřeních sloužících pro zjišťování a kontrolu stavu výživy. V praktické části práce jsou charakterizovány a porovnány výsledky stavu výživy 23 pacientů propuštěných z JIP a jejich následný vývoj, zjišťovaný během kontrol v nutriční ambulanci. Všichni pacienti byli hospitalizováni s komplikacemi v souvislosti s onemocněním Covid-19 a strávili různě dlouhou dobu na umělé plicní ventilaci případně na přístrojích pracujících na principu ECMO.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis investigates the nutritional status of critically ill patients, focusing on patients with Covid-19 disease who were admitted to intensive care units. At the same time, the subsequent evolution of their nutritional status over time after their discharge was monitored. This status was ascertained, based on nutritional examination using laboratory values, weight, BMI and bioimpedance analysis results. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the issue of nutrition of critically ill patients is discussed, together with the specifics of nutrition of critically ill patients in UPV with Covid-19 disease. In the practical part of the thesis, the results of the nutritional status of 23 patients discharged from the ICU and their subsequent evolution, ascertained during follow-ups in the nutritional clinic, are analyzed and compared. All patients were hospitalized with complications related to Covid-19 disease and spent different lengths of time on artificial pulmonary ventilation or ECMO devices.
