Energy priorities of the France and Germany in the context of the energy policy of the EU

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá energetickými prioritami Francie a Německa v kontextu energetické politiky EU. Nejprve popisuje a analyzuje energetickou politiku EU a její prioritní oblasti. Dále charakterizuje jednotlivé energetické politiky vybraných členských států: Francie a Německa. Priority národních států jsou do určité míry ovlivněné historickým vývojem, geografickou polohou, lokálními surovinami a technickým směřováním státu. Zkoumána je jejich kompatibilita s unijní energetickou politikou a jejich následná demonstrace prostřednictvím legislativního procesu EU v oblasti energetiky. Pozornost je věnována hlasování v Radě EU a Evropském parlamentu, jako v institucích hrajících klíčovou roli v evropském legislativním procesu. Závěrů vycházejících z práce je dosaženo za pomoci následující výzkumné otázky: Do jaké míry jsou národní energetické priority Francie a Německa kompatibilní s energetickou politikou EU?

Abstract:

This thesis deals with energy priorities of the France and Germany in the context of the energy policy of the EU. At first, it describes and analyses European energy policy and its priority areas. Next, it characterizes individual energy policy of selected member states: France and Germany. The priorities of individual states are particularly influenced by historical development, geographical location, local raw materials and technical direction of the state. The thesis examines their compatibility with EU energy policy and observes their subsequent demonstrations in through the European legislative process in the energy sector. The attention is paid to voting in the EU Council and European Parliament – institutions that play a key role in the legislative process. This thesis outlines the following research question: To what extent are national energy priorities of France and Germany compatible with EU energy policy?
