The Strategic Culture of Germany

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the strategic culture of the Federal Republic of Germany, and its aim is to assess whether the issue of strategic culture FRG has gone through any kind of continuity or on the contrary through noticeable changes after unification. The purpose of this paper is not only to interpret such changes, but also to understand the influence of the adopted cultural peculiarities on the results of the most important social debates about the foreign and security policy issues. Trying to reach the conclusions corresponding to the defined research questions, this work uses qualitative research methodology in social sciences. The thesis conclusion supposed to be received reflection, whether German strategic culture after the unification has been subordinated by particular changes, or rather has continued with the old trends. It is important for realizing and a better understanding the behavior and actions of German political and social elites within foreign and security policy.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zaoberá strategickou kultúrou Spolkovej republiky Nemecko, pričom jej snahou je zhodnotiť, či v otázke strategickej kultúry SRN po zjednotení došlo k určitej kontinuite alebo naopak k výraznejším zmenám. Práca hodnotí ukotvenie kultúrnych zvláštností, ktoré si krajina osvojila po druhej svetovej vojne, ako aj ich vplyv na výsledky najdôležitejších celospoločenských diskusií ohľade zahraničnej a bezpečnostnej politiky SRN. V snahe dospieť k záverom odpovedajúcim na položené výskumné otázky používa práca kvalitatívny výskum v metodológii sociálnych vied. Záverom diplomovej práce má byť získaný súd, či sa strategická kultúra SRN podmanila po zjednotení určitým zmenám, alebo skôr voľne pokračovala v starých trendoch. Je to významné z hľadiska pochopenia a lepšieho porozumenia toho ktorého správania a konania nemeckých politických a spoločenskovedných elít v otázkach zahraničnej a bezpečnostnej politiky.
