Impact of prospective access of Turkey on CFSP of the European Union

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o budoucím rozšíření EU ve spojitosti s Tureckem a SZBP Unie. Turecko požádalo o členství v Unii v roce 1987 a stále čeká na přijetí. To je odhadováno na rok 2015, ale rozporuplné názory politiků, evropské veřejnosti a také nevyhovující kritéria Turecké republiky vstup stále oddalují. Práce se skládá ze čtyř kapitol, které se zabývají jak SZBP samotnou, tak dopadem případného vstupu Turecka na ni. Ten je zkoumám ze dvou rovin ? politické a institucionální. Politickým dopadem je myšleno, jak by turecký vstup ovlivnil oblasti zájmů SZBP, zda by mohlo Turecko nějak přispět, či v čem by se naopak rozcházely zahraniční politiky obou aktérů. Autor se pokouší odhalit, kam by Turecko ?směrovalo? SZBP. Co se institucionální roviny týče, práce se snaží hypoteticky odhadnout, jak by se změnilo rozvržení sil v institucích EU ovlivňujících ZSBP. Vybrány pro tento účel byly Rada EU a Evropský parlament.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with future enlargement of the EU in a connection with Turkey and CFSP. Turkey has applied for the membership in this organization in 1987 and is still waiting for the acceptance. Turkey?s accession to the EU is estimated for the year 2015, but many disputes between politicians and European public as well as inadequate criteria are delaying the entry. The work consists of four chapters, which deal with the CFSP itself and the possible impact of Turkey's entry on it. The impact is researched from two points of view - political and institutional. The questions are how would the Turkey?s entry affect the interests of the CFSP of the EU and what would divide foreign policy of both sides. The author tries to reveal which area of interests would Turkey "push" the CFSP. The work also seeks to hypothetically estimate how would the layout of forces in the EU institutions, which affect CFSP, be changed. For this purpose the Council of the European Union and European Parliament were selected.
