Analysis of the efficiency of the forestry sector in EU countries

Abstract:

Odvětví lesnictví je zužováno velmi kritickými podmínkami, za které mohou výrazné klimatické změny. Proto je důležité mít podpůrnou techniku, která bude sloužit k rozhodování o dalších postupech. Cílem práce bylo zjistit efektivnost vybraných států Evropské unie pro období 2015—2020. K hodnocení efektivnosti byla využita neparametrická metoda analýzy obalu dat. Byl zvolen CCR model se vstupní orientací. Pro analýzu efektivnosti byly použity tři vstupní a dvě výstupní proměnné. Na základě zvoleného modelu byla vypočtena efektivnost jednotlivých států, podle níž bylo zjištěno, že ve všech sledovaných obdobích dochází pouze u třech států k efektivnosti. Nejnižší odhadnutá míra efektivnosti byla u Bulharska. Podle výpočtu Malmquistova indexu bylo prokázáno, že většina států ve sledovaném období dosahuje zlepšení celkové situace. Pro vybrané státy byla provedena shluková analýza, u které bylo zjištěno, že vývoj států v tomto odvětví je stabilní v čase.

Abstract:

The forestry sector is constrained by very critical conditions, which can be caused by significant climate changes. Therefore, it is important to have a support technique that will be used to decide on further procedures. The goal of the work was to determine the efficiency of selected states of the European Union for the period 2015—2020. The non-parametric data envelope analysis method was used to evaluate the efficiency. The CCR model with input orientation was chosen. Three input and two output variables were used for the efficiency analysis. On the basis of the chosen model, the efficiency of individual states was calculated, according to which it was found that only three states were efficient in all monitored periods. The lowest estimated rate of efficiency was for Bulgaria. According to the calculation of the Malmquist index, it was proven that most states achieved an improve-ment in the overall situation in the monitored period. A cluster analysis was car-ried out for the selected countries, where it was found that the development of the countries in this sector is stable over time.
