The Impect of COVID-19 Pandemic on the Occurrance of Suicidal Behavior in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care in the Region of Ústí nad Labem

Abstract:

Název práce: Dopad pandemie COVID-19 na výskyt suicidálního jednání v přednemocniční neodkladné péči v Ústeckém kraji. Úvod: Suicidální jednání je ve společnosti stále spíše zapovězené téma. Pandemie COVID-19 v jistých ohledech ovlivnila výskyt sebevražedného jednání. Cíl práce: Zhodnocení dopadu pandemie COVID-19 na výskyt suicidálního jednání v přednemocniční neodkladné péči v Ústeckém kraji. Pro zhodnocení byla extrahována a následně vyhodnocena získaná data. Metodika: Sběr dat z databáze Zdravotního operačního střediska Zdravotnické záchranné služby Ústeckého kraje dle zadaných kritérií (věk, pohlaví, okres bydliště, ). Výsledky: Kapitola popisuje získané výstupy z období před pandemií COVID-19 (1. března 2019-29. února 2020) a z období pandemie (1. března 2020-28. února 2021). Obě tato období a data získaná z nich jsou nejprve samostatně podrobně popsána a následně vyhodnocena. Pro výzkum bylo použito 1043 dat z celkového počtu 3609 dat. V prvním období (1. března 2019-29. února 2020) bylo zaznamenáno celkem 528 případů, z toho 319 mužů a 209 žen. V druhém období (1. března 2020-28. února 2021) bylo zaznamenáno celkem 515 případů, z toho 287 mužů a 228 žen. Data byla dle zadaných kategorií rozdělena a následně samostatně vyhodnocena. Hypotézy, až na jeden případ, nepotvrdily statisticky významný rozdíl v porovnávaných vzorcích. Závěr: Pandemie COVID-19 měla dle získaných výsledků malý, ale ne zanedbatelný dopad na suicidální jednání. Patrná byla změna ve věkové struktuře u mužů, kdy se k sebevraždám v druhém období uchylovala mladší skupina pacientů oproti období prvnímu. Také bylo v 16 případech (obě pohlaví) zaznamenáno, že důvodem pro sebevraždu byla obava z COVIDu. Výsledky mohou posloužit k vytvoření edukačních materiálů pro osvětu mladší věkové kategorie.

Abstract:

The title of the thesis: The impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the occurrence of suicidal behaviour in pre-hospital emergency care in the region of Ústí nad Labem. Introduction: Suicidal behaviour is still prohibited theme in society. COVID-19 Pandemic has influenced in some respects the occurrence of suicidal behaviour. The aim of the thesis: The evaluation of the COVID-19 pandemic impact on suicidal behaviour in pre-hospital emergency care in the region of Ústí nad Labem. To achieve this aim the data was extracted and subsequentlly evaluated. Methodology: Data collecting from the database of operating center of the Emergency care in the region of Ústí nad Labem according to given standards (age, sex, region, permanent address,) The results: The chapter describes gained data from the period before COVID-19 pandemic (March 1, 2019 - February 29, 2020) and from the period of pandemic (March 1, 2020 - February 28, 2021). Both these periods and the gained data are firstly described in details and subsequentlly evaluated. 1043 data from the whole amount of 3609 data was used for this research. In the first period (March 1, 2019 - February 29, 2020) there were entered altogether 528 events , 319 males and 209 females. In the second period (March 1, 2020 - February 28, 2021) there were entered 515 events, 287 males and 228 females. The data was divided according to standards and subsequentlly separately evaluated. The hypothesis, except the only, one has not confirmed the statistically important difference among compared samples. The conclusion: COVID-19 Pandemic had a small, but not insignificant impact on suicidal behaviour. There was the evidence of the change in male age group in the second period, when younger patients resorted to suicidal behaviour more often than in the first period. Also in 16 events (both sexes) the reason for suicidal behaviour in the pandemic period was given as the fear of COVID. The results can be used to create educative materials for public education of younger age groups.
