Gender differences in the formation of parasocial relationships with influencers on Instagram

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá genderovými rozdíly ve vytváření parasociálních vztahů s influencery na Instagramu. Parasociální vztahy jsou jednostranné vztahy zprostředkované médii, které navazujeme s našimi oblíbenými personami. V souvislosti s tímto psychologickým jevem jsou zde zkoumány genderové rozdíly v intenzitě těchto vztahů, v době potřebné k navázání parasociálního vztahu, v preferenci pohlaví influencera nebo preferenci obsahu, který sledují. V praktické části si respondenti zvolili oblíbeného influencera a pomocí dotazníkového šetření odpovídali na otázky ohledně parasoiciální interakce a doplňujících informací. Následně proběhlo statistické testování čtyř výzkumných hypotéz. V závěru práce jsou vyhodnoceny a diskutovány výsledky genderových rozdílů v parasociálních vztazích.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis explores gender differences in the formation of parasocial relationships with influencers on Instagram. Parasocial relationships are the one-sided media-mediated relationships that we establish with our favorite personas. Gender differences are explored in relation to this psychological phenomenon in the intensity of these relationships, the time it takes to establish a parasocial relationship, the gender preference of the influencer, or the preference of the content they follow. In the practical part, respondents chose their favourite influencer and, using a questionnaire survey they answered questions about parasocial interaction and additional information. Subsequently, statistical testing of the four research hypotheses was conducted. In the conclusion of the thesis, the results of gender differences in parasocial relationships.
