Key competences of fresh graduates of Prague University of Economics and Business in 21st century

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zmapovat klíčové kompetence absolventů navazujícího magisterského studia Vysoké školy ekonomické v Praze pro efektivní výkon práce ve 21. století. V teoretické části jsou definovány pojmy spojené s klíčovými kompetencemi, získáváním a výběrem čerstvých absolventů a vlivem světové pandemie COVID-19 na změnu priorit kompetencí potřebných pro pracovní uplatnění ve 21. století. Pro praktickou část byla zvolena kombinace kvantitativního i kvalitativního výzkumu. Kvantitativní výzkum byl vyhotoven prostřednictvím online dotazování mezi magisterskými studenty VŠE. Kvalitativní výzkum byl prováděn pomocí metody IPA a proběhl s devíti HR profesionály formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Tyto rozhovory byly doslovně přepsány a následně kódovány v softwaru MAXQDA 2020. Závěry výzkumu naznačují, že je kladen důraz hlavně na měkké kompetence, konkrétně na flexibilitu, komunikační a prezentační dovednosti, zodpovědnost, kritické myšlení a pokoru.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to map the key competencies of the graduates of the follow-up master's study at the Prague University of Economics and Business for the effective work performance in the 21st century. The theoretical part defines the terms associated with key competencies, recruitment proces for fresh graduates and the impact of the global pandemic COVID-19 on changing the priorities of competencies needed for employability in the 21st century. A combination of quantitative and qualitative research was chosen for the practical part. Quantitative research was conducted through online surveys among master students of the Prague University of Economics and Business. Qualitative research was conducted using the IPA method and was conducted with nine HR professionals in the form of semi-structured interviews. These interviews were literally transcribed and subsequently coded in the MAXQDA 2020 software. The research findings suggest that the key focus is mainly on soft skills, specifically flexibility, communication and presentation skills, responsibility, critical thinking and humility.
