The Phenomenon of the Singles in the Czech Republic ( The Overwiew Study)

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá fenoménem singles. Cílem práce je vylíčit jeho základní charakteristiky, včetně jednotlivých typologií, motivů vedoucích k tomuto životnímu stylu, typů alternativních vztahů singlů či také základních společenských jevů bezprostředně spjatých s tímto fenoménem. K uvedení do problematiky jsem si dopomohla skrze koncept rodiny a její historické proměny. Samotný koncept singles je tak zařazen do širších společenských změn souvisejících s proměnou rodiny a partnerských svazků v pozdní moderní společnosti (změn v oblasti sexuality a intimních vztahů, proměn genderových rolí, proměn pracovního trhu či přeměn sociálních struktur a společenských vztahů skrze proces individualizace). Práce obsahuje zhodnocení stávající situace fenoménu singles v České republice, k čemuž jsem si opět dopomohla skrze charakteristiky úzce spjaté s proměnou partnerských a rodinných strategií, jmenovitě skrze vývoj a současné hodnoty sňatečnosti, rozvodovosti a počty cenzových domácností jednotlivců. Při hodnocení vývoje a současného stavu tohoto fenoménu v České republice je brán zřetel na odlišný (postkomunistický) vývoj vzhledem k zemím západní Evropy, odkud se k nám tento fenomén dostal.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the phenomenon of the singles. The aim is to portray its basic characteristics, including different typologies, the drivers of this lifestyle, types of alternative relationships of the singles and also the basic social phenomena directly associated with this phenomenon. To the introduction to the problems, I have been helped by the concept of family and its historical transformations. The very concept of singles is included in the broader social changes associated with the transformation of family and partnerships in the late modern society (changes in sexuality and intimate relationships, changes of gender roles, labor market changes or changes of social structures and social relations through a process of individualization). The work includes assessment of the current situation of the phenomenon of the singles in the Czech Republic, to which I have been helped by characteristics closely associated with the change of partner and family strategies once again, namely, through the development and current marriages, divorces and the number of census households of the individuals. In assessing the development and current status of this phenomenon in the Czech Republic, there is taken into account the different (post-communist) development due to the countries of Western Europe, from which it gets us to this phenomenon.
