Sedimentological evaluation of selected borehole from the underground natural gas storage Tvrdonice

Abstract:

Podzemní zásobník plynu Tvrdonice byl vybudován z částečně vytěženého ložiska uhlovodíků. Kolektorské vrstvy zásobníku jsou součástí hrušecké struktury, která je tvořena neogenními sedimenty vídeňské pánve. Hrušecká struktura je protáhlou elevací, kterou prochází lanžhotsko-hrušecký zlomový systém. Jednotlivé zásobníkové obzory jsou vázány na pokleslou kru lanžhotsko-hrušeckého zlomu. Nejobjemnějším z nich je 12.-14. sarmatský obzor. Bakalářská práce se zabývá studiem vrtných jader pocházejících z 12.-14. sarmatského obzoru podzemního zásobníku plynu v Tvrdonicích. V rámci práce byla provedena gamaspektrometrická, zrnitostní a litofaciální analýza. Výsledky gamaspektrometrie indikují, že studované sedimenty byly uloženy převážně v oxických podmínkách v teplém a humidním klimatu. Zrnitostní analýzou bylo prokázáno zastoupení jílovité až štěrkovité frakce a špatné vytřídění sedimentů naznačující fluktuace energie ukládajícího fluida. Ze strukturních a texturních znaků a zrnitostní charakteristiky vrstev bylo vyčleněno 5 litofacií. Bylo interpretováno, že sedimentace proběhla v deltovém prostředí. Závěry práce přispívají k dosavadním poznatkům o paleoprostředí sarmatu v moravské části vídeňské pánve.

Abstract:

The underground gas storage Tvrdonice is located in the northern part of the Vienna basin, Czech Republic. It consists of a partially depleted complex of hydrocarbon reservoirs, which is used as a storage of the imported gas. The local hydrocarbon trap is a strati-structural type, it composed of an extended semi vault along the Lanžhot-Hrušky fault. The storage horizons are part of the Neogene sedimentary fill of the basin. The 12th-14th Sarmatian horizon, which is part of the hanging wall of the Lanžhot-Hrušky fault, provides the most significant storage capacity. Five drill cores from the 12th-14th Sarmatian horizon were studied using gamma ray spectrometry, grain size and facies analysis. The spectrometry results indicate that the sediments were mainly deposited under oxic conditions and in a warm and humid climate. Moreover, the sediments were characterised as poorly sorted with grain size varying from clay to gravel, which suggests variable energy conditions during the deposition. Finally, five facies were identified within the studied succession indicating that the sediments were deposited in a deltaic environment. Overall, the results of this study provide insight into the current knowledge and understanding of the paleoenvironment of the northern part of the Vienna basin during the Early Sarmatian.
