An Outline of Incomplete Models Based Theory of Science

Abstract:

Diplomová práce nesoucí název „Nástin teorie vědy jako soustavy neúplných modelů“ si klade za cíl krátce představit nově vznikající teorii vědy. Tato teorie vědy využívá pojem tzv. neúplného modelu a celou vědu chápe jako soustavu těchto modelů. Neúplný model je struktura tvořená výchozím obsahem (tvořeným nejlépe daty empirické povahy) a dosazenou formou (tvořenou vynalezením vztahů mezi částmi obsahu). Vědecká teorie je chápána jako neúplný model, který má vytčenu určitou množinu premis důležitých pro svou stavbu. Vědecké teorie mohou vznikat přímo nad množinou určitých dat (hypoteticko-induktivní postup) nebo reformulací formy nad nějaké již existující teorie (hypoteticko-deduktivní postup) a mohou mezi sebou být srovnávány na základě několika kritérií, například ekonomičnosti, přesnosti či didaktičnosti. Tento přístup, jak si autor slibuje, umožní vysvětlit některé aspekty tradičních teorií vědy z nové perspektivy, ukázat jejich chyby a zároveň tyto chyby neopakovat.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis called "An Outline of Incomplete Models Based Theory of Science" aims to briefly introduce the emerging theory of science. This theory of science uses the concept of so-called incomplete model, and gets the science as a system of these models. A structure of the incomplete model consists of default content (consisting of empirical data, ideally) and installed form (consisting of relations among parts of the content). A scientific theory is viewed as an incomplete model, which has explicitly shown an important set of premises for its construction. Scientific theories may arise upon a set of specific data (hypothetico-inductive approach), or as a reformulation of form of some other theory (hypothetico-deductive approach), and could be compared on the basis of several criteria, such as economical, accuracy or didacticism. Among others, this approach should be able to explain some aspects of traditional theories of science from a new perspective, to show their mistakes and to do not repeat those mistakes again.
