Ethics of paparazzi photography in the 21st century

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá etikou současné bulvární fotografie. V první části práce ukotvuje bulvární fotografii v širším historickém kontextu a rozebírá podstatu bulvární fotografie. V další části se soustřeďuje na etická dilemata bulvární fotografie. Přes stručný nástin vývoje etiky se autorka propracovává k otázce, jaká jsou současná etická dilemata bulvární fotografie a jakým způsobem se tato dilemata projevují v praxi. V třetí praktické části aplikuje prostřednictvím případové studie zjištěné poznatky na konkrétní událost. Práce se orientuje především na nejčtenější tištěná bulvární média České republiky – Blesk a Aha!, u kterých podrobně analyzuje obrazová pokrytí s cílem odhalit jednotlivé etické defekty. Autorka se následně pokouší o etické zhodnocení konkrétní události, která slouží především k ilustraci tématu, nikoli ke generalizaci a vytváření obecných soudů o stavu českých bulvárních deníků.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the ethic value of the paparazzi photograph. First part of the theses defines the development and characteristic of the paparazzi photograph. Next part focuses on ethical dilemmas of this type of photographs. At first, the author briefly process the development of ethics and then author asks, what are the current ethical dilemmas of the paparazzi photographs and how are the dilemmas reflected in practice. In the third part of the thesis, the conclusions are applied in the practical case study. Mainly, the thesis is focused on the most popular paper tabloids in the Czech Republic - Blesk and Aha!. Then, author analyzes the visual coverage to identify the ethical defects on particular photographs. The author evaluates the ethical dilemmas on the particular photographs. The particular events of the paparazzi photography are used just for the illustration of the problem not for the generalization of the Czech paparazzi photographs.
