The Czech Republic's entry into the euro area-advantages and disadvantages

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je vyhodnocení, za by Česká republika měla přijmout společnou evropskou měnu a popsání výhod a nevýhod s tím spojených. V práci je popsán historický vývoj od první světové války, který vedl ke vzniku měnové unie. Dále je zde Česká republika hodnocena v rámci konvergenčních kritérií, jestli je schopna novou měnu přijmout. Třetí kapitola se zabývá otázkou patrnou z názvu práce, a to výhody a nevýhody eura. V Předposlední kapitola se věnuje možným následkům coronavirové epidemie a vysvětluje možné postupy, jak dopady co nejvíce zvrátit. Poslední část pomocí dotazníkového šetření zjišťuje názory a přístup občanů České republiky k euru.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to evaluate why the Czech Republic should adopt a common European currency and to describe the advantages and disadvantages associated with it. The thesis describes the historical development since the First World War, which led to the creation of the monetary union. Furthermore, the Czech Republic is evaluated in terms of convergence criteria whether it is able to accept the new currency. The third chapter deals with the question evident from the title of the thesis, namely the advantages and disadvantages of the euro. The penultimate chapter discusses the possible consequences of the coronavirus epidemic and explains possible ways to reverse the effects as much as possible. The last part uses a questionnaire survey to find out the opinions and attitudes of the citizens of the Czech Republic to the euro.
