The economic potential of buildings from the second half of the 20th century in the conception of brownfields

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je identifikace ekonomického potenciálu a faktorů úspěšné revitalizace lokálníchbrownfields v podobě chátrajících staveb z 2. poloviny 20. století. K dosažení cíle je využito rešeršeliteratury, elektronických zdrojů a polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s aktéry této problematiky.Teoretická část práce představuje historii staveb z let 1948-1989 a shrnuje problematikubrownfields, která je v textu provázána se současným stavem dotčených poválečných staveb avymezuje je jako druh lokálních brownfields. Také se rámcově věnuje udržitelnému rozvoji území,který je s revitalizací brownfields úzce spjat. Praktická část představuje historický kontext výstavbyv Plzni a analyzuje pět staveb s přesahem k dalším vykazující rysy lokálních brownfields. V závěrupráce jsou identifikovány konkrétní faktory ovlivňující ekonomický potenciál těchto stavebv obecnější rovině a je nastíněn možný vývoj na konkrétním příkladu.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to identify the economic potential and the aspects of successfulrevitalization of post war buildings in the conception of brownfields. The examination through theliterature and electronic resources as well as semi structured interviews with individuals involvedin the issue are used to fulfil the aim of the thesis. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces thehistory of construction in Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1989, summarizes the issue of brownfieldsand defines post war buildings in a state of disrepair as “local brownfields”. The sustainabledevelopment is also mentioned as important part of this issue. In the practical part of the thesis,five specific buildings in Pilsen in the state of local brownfields are analysed and some others arementioned. Specific aspects of revitalization of local brownfields are identified and suggestions aredefined in the conclusion of the thesis.
